Vacation Responders

Vacation responders provide a predefined response to an email. These are typically used to inform people of your absence and expected return.

Your WebValence mail account allows you to setup a vacation responder (provided that you use a WebValence mail box, not a forwarding address).

Non-Vacation Responders

Regular full time responders require a different setup from vacation responders.

Creating Your Vacation Responder

Follow the steps below, referring to the graphics for reassurance. Examples below will be shown first in our default appearance (skin) and second in the HotMail skin. Depending upon which skin you are using, some terms and images may differ slightly.
  1. Log into your webmail account (http://mail.yourdomain.com/)
  2. Select the "rules" icon (looks like two gears) or "filters" link.
  3. Enter your responder text in the "Message Text" box in the "Vacation Message" section.
  4. Choose the "Enable Vacation Message" button.

Testing Your Vacation Responder

From your local ISP, send a message to your address at your domain. You should receive a response in a few minutes.

Updating Your Vacation Responder

You may update your vacation responder at any time. Access the rules/filters page, and change the text in the "Vacation Message" text area. Select "Update" to save your changes.

Disabling Your Vacation Responder

When you are ready to disable your vacation message, click the "Disable Vacation Message" Button.

Clearing Your Replied Addresses List

Upon your return, you should also click the "Clear Replied Addresses List" button. The replied addresses list keeps track of addresses to which it has sent your vacation message, ensuring that it delivers your responder only once to each address. You will need to clear this list to allow future vacation messages to reach these addresses.

Formatting Your Responder

Responders may be formatted in plain text or HTML. Formatting in HTML is beyond the scope of this tutorial as of this writing. Please contact support@webvalence.com
